Hi, I'm Francesca!
I'm the tutor behind Check Tutors, and I'm glad you're here!
I've been tutoring for over 8 years and running my own tutoring business for the past 3. During that time, I've worked with students from elementary school through university, helping them prepare for exams, navigate challenging courses, and sometimes simply make it through a difficult semester.
I've also worked as an educational assistant, substitute teacher, ski instructor, and science educator. Those experiences have given me the opportunity to work with students of different ages, abilities, learning styles, and goals. If there's one thing they've taught me, it's that every student learns differently. Instead of following a set program, I take the time to understand how each student learns, where they're feeling stuck, and what they're hoping to achieve. From there, we build a plan that works for them.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Ottawa, where I developed a particular interest in conservation biology and ecology. I also have a strong interest in astronomy and have had the opportunity to share that passion through science education programs and community outreach. Outside of tutoring, I love to scuba dive, ski, and play hockey!
When I created Check Tutors, I wanted it to reflect the kind of support I believe students deserve: personalized, straightforward, and focused on real progress. No confusing programs, no one-size-fits-all solutions, and no question too small to ask.
